Akufo-Addo sacks Customs Commissioner

The Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Colonel (Rtd.) Kwadwo Damoah, has been ordered by the President to hand over his duties to an acting Deputy Commissioner at the Authority, Seidu Iddrisu Iddisah.

Col. Damoah had been serving in his position despite his contract expiring in October 2021, according to a letter from the Presidency.

Col. Damoah was recently indicted in corruption-related acts involving Labianca Company Limited, a frozen foods company.

Iddrisu Iddisah is to act as the Commissioner of Customs Division pending the President’s substantive appointment.

The change is to take effect from Friday, August 26, 2022.
