Akwasi Appiah ‘Mad’ Over Tribal Allegations
HEAD TRAINER of the Black Stars, Akwasi Appiah, is brimming with rage over rumours that tribal lineage influenced his selection into the team.
The wild rumours started to spread when the Ghana coach released his final squad for the Ghana/Uganda World Cup qualifier.
Jordan and Dede Ayew, who hail from
the northern part of the country, could not make the cut so they missed the crunch tie. There were rumours afterwards that Akwasi Appiah intentionally left out the Ayew brothers because they were northerners.
But in a clear rebuttal, the Ghana head coach stated categorically that there is no iota of truth in the speculations so people should ignore them.
“I am from the Brong Ahafo region so if my selection is based on tribal lineage then
naturally players from Brong Ahafo should dominate my team.
“But you can see that Agyeman Badu is the only player from the Brong Ahafo region that usually makes my team”, the Ghana coach pointed out.
Akwasi Appiah stated that he makes his selection based on form and nothing else, urging the public not to believe the tribal allegations being levelled against him.
