Ghanaian actor and content creator Akwasi Kardashian has tragically passed away after a prolonged struggle with kidney failure.
Reports from blogger Sammy Kay revealed that Akwasi could not raise the funds needed for his life-saving treatment.
In a previous interview with Sammy Kay Media, Akwasi described his difficult journey, recounting symptoms like intense coughing, vomiting, and unexpected leg swelling, which initially led him to seek medical attention. Upon examination, doctors delivered the heartbreaking news of kidney failure, estimating his treatment would cost GHC700,000.
Following the diagnosis, Akwasi urgently appealed to the public for assistance through Sammy Kay’s platform. He tearfully asked for donations to cover the expenses for a kidney transplant and dialysis, which he said required more than GHC20,000 monthly. In the same interview, Akwasi revealed he had been diagnosed with high blood pressure five years ago but had not been taking medication.
Last year, his condition worsened, prompting a hospital visit, where further tests confirmed that his kidneys were failing, and he was immediately put on dialysis.
Despite his pleas to friends, fans, and the general public, Akwasi could not gather enough funds for the costly treatment. His heartbreaking appeals stirred sympathy nationwide as he openly shared his challenges in securing funds to continue the expensive medical care.
Akwasi Kardashian’s untimely death has left a void in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
