Alan Cash Runs With Greenstreet …Says Grapevine Reports

Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the immediate-past Minister for Trades and Industry, who officially announced to Ghanaians on September 5, 2023, that he had withdrawn from the race to elect a 2024 presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is likely  to pick Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, a renowned lawyer from Kwame Nkrumah’s Convention People’s Party (CPP) as his running mate for the December 7, 2024 presidential polls, The New Publisher has gathered.

Ivor Greenstreet contested as presidential candidate of the CPP for both the 2016 and 2020 elections but performed rather poorly and his party currently has no seat in Parliament.

Mr. Greenstreet has also served as General Secretary of the CPP twice and contested as the party’s Parliamentary candidate twice. He never entered Parliament.

Greenstreet has consistently campaigned on the mantra of a “Ghanaian Dream.”

Details remain sketchy on the exact ticket on which the Alan Cash cum Greenstreet 2024 collaboration would be flying on but the announcement is expected to be made public in coming weeks.

Kyerematen himself, on September 5, had told the world that : “In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana..,”

Political pundits do not give the two any chance of winning the 2024 presidential race, There are suggestions that Alan Kyerematen may walk away with a margin of NPP votes if he truly contests the 2024 race.

The said margin, if any, would not be much considering the fact that already, some of his most vocal and strategic campaigners who were at the forefront with him when he was eyeing the NPP flag, have started to  abandon him after he cried foul and chickened out while fuming and grumbling like a spoilt child whose favourite toy had been taken from him

Member of Parliament for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro constituency in the Greater Accra and a well-known member of the Alan for President campaign, Sylvester Tetteh, has refused to move with him.

Tetteh has remained in the NPP and publicly announced the he has joined the campaign of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead the NPP’s presidential primaries on 4 November 2023.

Mr. Kyerematen is gradually becoming a deserted lone-ranger as another heavyweight from his camp, Catherine Abelema Afeku who hitherto served as a senior spokesperson the Alan 2024 Campaign has also  declined to be a part of his walk-away’ train and remained with the NPP, now campaigning for Team Bawumia Must Win.

Madam Afeku, a communications expert per excellence, has filed forms to be elected as the parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency for the 2024 elections.

Mr. Kyerematen, in his Tuesday September 5, 2023 blamed his eleventh-hour chickening out of the race on what he described as an “unprecedented” high “level of intimidation of varying intensity, directly and indirectly unleashed on a significant number of Delegates at various Voting Centers across the sixteen regions” of the country when the NPP held its August 26, 2023 Super Delegates Conference to shortlist the number of wannabe flag-bearers from ten to 5.

“In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana, after consultations with my family and other well-wishers, various stakeholders and interest groups”, Mr. Kyerematen noted in his press statement but did not give details on the said future.

The NPP has since accepted his withdrawal letter.

Party General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, in a statement said that both the Elections and the Disciplinary Committees have initiated comprehensive investigations into all reported incidents of violations and infractions alleged to have occurred at various voting centers during the Super Delegates election last month.

The statement assured all persons found culpable of any wrongdoing will be held accountable.

Alan Kyerematen alias Alan Cash, placed a surprising third with a total of 95 votes representing 10.29 percent at the said August 26 Super Delegates Conference which had some 961 delegates of the party voting.

He was beaten by first time entrant, Kennedy Agyapong, who gathered 132 votes to represent 14.3 percent.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, also a first time entrant, won a landslide comfortable lead with a total votes of 629 representing 68.15 percent of all valid votes.
