There is nothing worth defending about the economic records of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo, a senior spokesperson of Alan Kyeremanten’s campaign team, has told Osei Bonsu (OB), host of Ekosisen on Asempa FM in Accra.
Speaking on her current affairs talk show in her official capacity as a representative of Alan Kyeremanten, Catherine Abelema Afeku, said she finds nothing wrong with the decision of the Alan Team to not defend the NPP Government because there is nothing to defend.
Catherine Afeku was responding to a question from the host of the show regarding complains from NPP former General Secretary, John Boadu that the Team Alan Campaign seem to not defend the records of the very Government and party they want to elect a presidential candidate for.
This was how exactly Catherine Afeku responded: “Even our leader, our defacto leader, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has admitted that we have challenges. So if John Boadu comes to say that when we (the Alan Kyeremanten campaign team) say we have challenges, we have not spoken well, WHAT IS THERE TO DEFEND? WHAT IS THERE TO DEFEND? IS THE CEDI NOT AT 12 CEDIS? WAS IT NOT AT FOUR?”
This is not the first time the campaign team for Alan Kyeremanten has made it public that the NPP cannot defend its economic records and therefore party would find it difficult to come out with a convincing campaign message for the electorate in 2024.
Madam Afeku, a communications expert per excellence, used the platform to market Former Trades and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten as the best political commodity to be marketed to the Ghanaian electorate for the 2024 elections.
She recounted stories of his popularity and likeability across the country as and the confidence Ghanaians have in him as a leader who is capable of setting the economy of the country on the right path.
Madam Afeku also defended the suggestion that Alan should be made candidate because that would maximize the NPP’s votes in the party’s strongholds.
Catherine Afeku has filed forms to be elected as the parliamentary candidate of the NPP in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira Constituency for the 2024 elections.
She expressed high hopes of recapturing the seat she had occupied, lost, recaptured, and lost again and now seeks to recapture in 2024.
