Undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has lodged a complaint at the National Media Commission (NMC) to have Accra-based Hot FM and its current affairs show host, Justice Kweku Annan, investigated for unethical conduct.
According to Anas, Mr Annan “has been using Hot FM platform to malign” him, his Tiger Eye PI firm and Editor in Chief of the new Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako “with no justifiable proof or evidence”.
In the petition dated 3 July 2018, which was signed by Anas, it was alleged that Mr Annan had demanded GHS 35,000 in order to destroy Anas, Tiger Eye PI and Mr Baako.
Anas said: “We posed as a relative to a man who had been exposed by Anas and his team and wanted to see Anas destroyed. We met Mr Annan on three occasions – twice at Kempinski hotel in Accra and Afrikiko around Flagstaff House area on June 1, June 5 and June 22 respectively. Justice asked us to pay an initial deposit of thirty-five thousand cedis to contribute to the project to destroy Anas, Tiger Eye PI and Mr Baako and subsequently will come for extra money as the payment advances”.
“…In all, we paid Mr Annan five thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 5000) as our contribution… He told us, there are a group of influential Ghanaians including politicians such as Kennedy Agyepong, MP Assin Central, who are bent on exposing the face of Anas and eventually destroy his credibility with series of untruths and lies. He revealed the operation is on two platforms – Radio and television.
“It is upon the foregoing that we request a full-scale investigation into the activities of Mr Annan and Hot FM,” Anas stated in his petition to the NMC.
One of the video recordings capturing transactions by Mr Annan and undercover operatives of Anas who embarked on an operation to expose Mr Annan, which forms part of transcripts, audio/visuals and publications which Anas presented to the NMC can be found below.
