Andre Ayew confirms daughter’s collapse and death of “godson”

Andre Ayew has confirmed the collapse of his daughter after the Uruguay game and the death of his “godson” before the Portugal game.

He also described Ghana’s elimination from the 2022 World Cup as unfortunate in a statement he released on social media.

Ghana ended his Qatar campaign at the group stage with 2-0 loss to Uruguay after the 32-year-old missed a penalty.

24 hours after the game, Andre in an Instagram post outlined the tragedies he is experiencing, including the passing of his “godson” just before the match against Portugal.

“Our final group match result was not what we were looking forward to in the tournament, but unfortunately, it ended up this way,” the statement said.

“Personally, it has been very difficult moments for me in the past few days. I lost my godson the morning before the Portugal game, and my daughter was also rushed to the hospital after the Uruguay [game]. Thanks to the Almighty Allah, she’s getting better.”

The most capped Ghanaian player in history is convinced hurdles like the Uruguay one will help the Black Stars perform better while concluding with the slogans of the two most glamourous clubs in Ghana, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, as a motivation.

The statement added, “These difficult moments will inspire me to come back stronger and better in the future, and so I believe, will the Black Stars.

“In our true Ghanaian spirits, WE WILL NEVER SAY DIE, UNTIL THE BONES ARE ROTTEN, WO KUM APEM A, APEM BEBA. Thank you all for your prayers and unwavering support. REST IN PEACE, ADAM.”
