Anlo Ladies FC of Woe in the Anloga District Assembly of the Volta Region became the champions of the 2022 edition of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament women’s division side.
This was after they won over Ketu North side Kutsinu United Ladies FC by three goals to zero in the grand finale at the Dzodze – Penyi Senior High School park.
The win becomes the third time Anlo Ladies FC has won the tournament since it’s commencement in the year 2018.
The category for the Anlo Ladies FC was sponsored by Infinity Star Hotel of Penyi.
Mr. John Kwakuvi Hounlessodji popularly known as Mr. Infinity from Infinity Stars Hotel and Infinity Den Enterprise awarded the ladies with some good price.
Tournament headline sponsor
Tanko Foundation – a Non-Governmental Organization was the headline sponsor for the tournament, a football event which saw the first invitation of Patrick Doamekpor, a football expert and analyst based in the USA to Ghana.
The occasion which happened in Dzodze in the Volta Region on Saturday, August 27, 2022 attracted about 30,000 spectators, volunteers and stakeholders to unearth talents.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tanko Foundation, Mr. Gabriel Kwabla Kwamigah speaking at the event said his desire and vision to help create a society in which individuals, especially the youth will have equal, fair and equitable access to everything necessitated the move to become the official headline sponsor of the tournament.
He noted that the region have an avalanche of natural talents that when nurtured well, would produce enough dividends that are capable of making life generally easier for the vast majority of the populace.
“My passion and vision is to help create a society in which individuals will have equal, fair and equitable access to the most basic necessities of life in a stable, safe and peaceful society. Ketu North and Volta, just like many developed societies, have an avalanche of naturally impeccable human potentials that when identified, supported and nurtured, will produce enough dividends that are capable of making life generally easier for the vast majority of the people.”
He added, “According to the late Kofi Annan, “Any society that does not succeed in tapping into the energy and creativity of its youth will be left behind.” This, I am primarily obsessed and zealous about in my daily scheme of affairs. To me investing in the youth is a very vital and viable recipe for securing and safeguarding the future of any society with prospects. The power of youth is the common wealth for the entire world. The faces of young people are the faces of our past, our present and our future. No segment in the society can match with the power, idealism, enthusiasm and courage of the young people.”
About Duamenefa tournament
The regional tournament which is an initiative of Fafa FM in the Volta Region started in 2017 with 47 teams and saw participation increase to 104 teams in 2019 with this year’s tournament attracting 61 teams which they competed over a period of five months.
Duamenefa is a social intervention NGO made up of 28,000 registered and certified volunteers scattered across various communities in the Volta Region with the mandate to promote peaceful coexistence.
