MOVEMENT OF people and goods has almost become impossible in the Anwiam/Dagomba Line community, where the roads have deteriorated beyond motorable standards.
The Anwiam/Dagomba Line, which is situated in the Oforikrom Municipality, is a densely populated Zongo community with a lot of business activities.
For instance, the Anwiam Hospital Annex, one of the top medical facilities in the Greater Kumasi Metropolis, is located in the Anwiam/Dagomba Line.
The ultra-modern hospital boasts of top class medical doctors, nurses and other health workers therefore persons from all over the Ashanti Region and beyond visit the facility on a daily basis for medical attention.
But due to the bad nature of the road, which is dusty and full of pot holes of scary sizes, it is impossible to rush critically ill patients to the hospital for treatment on time.
The poor nature of the roads has gotten the attention of the Minister of Inner City and Zongo Affairs, Mustapha Hamid, who visited to the area to inspect the roads recently.
Mustapha Hamid openly lamented over the bad roads and stated that he would use his influence to appeal to the appropriate quarters to quickly fix the bad road network.
John Nketiah, the Assemblyman for Oforikrom, in an interview with The New Publisher, said the bad roads have been neglected for two decades now.
He also appealed to the ministry of roads and highways to listen to their pleas by constructing the poor road network to help ease movement of people and goods.
According to him, the Anwiam Hospital Annex is the alternative medical center for a lot of people in the city so the roads should be fixed to ease movement of vehicles.
