Arrest Illegal Foreign Lotto Operators – Government Told
Government has been asked to, as a matter of urgency, arrest all foreign nationals that are operating lotto illegally in the country.
Making the call recently at a press conference, founder and leader of the Ghana National Chamber of Licensed Banker-to-Banker Lotto Operators and Agents, Frank Adjei, said the illegal operations of foreigners was adversely affecting operations of local operators.
“We are urging the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Ghana Police Service to arrest and prosecute these foreign private lotto operators”, he demanded at the press conference.
Adjei also gave kudos to the NLA for introducing a license fee of one million Ghana cedis on private lotto operators in the country.
According to him, the new policy would go a long way to help NLA accrue more money for the state to embark on developmental projects.
The founder of the group further opined that the licensing fee on private lotto operators would help wipe out people, who are operating illegally, and also help government to get money.
He urged government and all stakeholders to rally behind the NLA CEO, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw “because he is a visionary and he can bring positive changes to the lotto industry”.
The aforementioned group has about 200 lotto agents, 170 sub-agents and over 150,000 lotto writers across the ten regions of Ghana.
