The Asaase Foundation has once again sponsored the annual pre-Christmas party and made a donation to children at the Princess Marie Louise (PML) Children’s Hospital in Accra.
The not-for-profit Asaase Foundation was established to drive corporate social responsibility initiatives by Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd.
The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, also donated items to the Princess Marie Louise Hospital for the Christmas party, which took place on Thursday (12 December) with support from the Asaase Foundation.
The party, an annual event, is organised by the Princess Marie Louise Hospital for patients, schoolchildren in the vicinity and guests from partner institutions who are invited specially.
Speaking at the event, Gifty Boafo, the administrator of the Asaase Foundation, expressed gratitude to Samira Bawumia for accepting Asaase’s invitation and helping to sponsor the children’s Christmas celebration at the PML Hospital.
“Each year we come, we join the hospital, because we like to help the children, we like to help the ill, we like to help the marginalised in society; it gives us joy. When we [the Asaase Foundation] come here and celebrate with the children, it brings us so much joy.
“We are glad to be here. Thank you, Madam Samira, for honouring our invitation and being here.”
For her part, Hajia Samira Bawumia acknowledged the hospital staff, management and advisory board for making the flagship event a success.
“Over the years, Princess Marie Louise Children’s Hospital has been a beacon of care, compassion and healing for children across Ghana,” she said.
“The hospital’s unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of its youngest citizens, our youngest citizens, our children, our babies, is truly commendable.”
Hajia Samira Bawumia also expressed her gratitude to charitable donors for continuing to support the hospital, citing the Asaase Foundation, MTN aYo Insurance, the Little Angels Trust, the Former Ambassadors’ Wives’ Association and others. She encouraged everyone who looks after younger people to keep honouring and celebrating them.
“Your commitment to creating these precious moments of joy speaks volumes about the love and empathy that define the ethos of this hospital,” the Second Lady said.
“Every child deserves to experience the magic of Christmas, to feel cherished, celebrated and cared for.
“So, to the management and advisory board of this amazing hospital, congratulations on nearly a century of excellence in paediatric care. Your commitment to upholding this legacy and organising this wonderful celebration each year is truly commendable.
