Several Traditional leaders in the Asante Kingdom have started donating foodstuffs to their people to help them survive the partial lockdown.
The government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has placed some communities in the Ashanti and Greater Accra regions under a lockdown.
The firm order is to help prevent the dangerous Covid-19 from spreading further in the country in order to help protect precious human lives.
The partial lockdown order by government has stalled businesses, both big and small, and this has naturally led to hardship among the citizenry.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as a way of mitigating the burden on the people in his kingdom, has started a food distribution exercise.
The Asante King has stockpiled staggering Gh 1 million worth of food and other items for onward distribution to his subjects to enhance their lives.
Significantly, the Asantehene’s exemplary leadership style has motivated most of the chiefs in the Asante Kingdom to also donate food to their people.
Some of the chiefs are Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, Agric Nzemahene; Baffuor Kwaku Amoateng, Jachiehene and Nana Ampongsah Kwah, Atwima Kwanwoma Chief.
These aforementioned chiefs and others, have donated bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of soap and hand sanitizers to support their subjects.
Explaining their benevolent gestures, the chiefs said they were following the footsteps of their overlord, Otumfuo, to help boost the lives of their subjects.
