Asante Youth Support Otumfuo To Mourn Asantehemaa
MANY PROMINENT youth of the Asante Kingdom have rallied behind their king, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to mourn the late Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.
The energetic young men, some of who own their own businesses in Kumasi and beyond, abandoned their work and actively participated in every traditional event since the funeral rites started about a week ago.
Led by Nana Adusei, one of the most respected and visionary young men in the city, the youth were almost always seen following Otumfuo’s palanquin, amid chants of war songs.
Some elderly people in Kumasi, who have wide knowledge of Asante customs and traditions, said the active participation of young men at the queen’s funeral is a good sign for the future of Asanteman in particular and Ghana in general.
The late Asante Queen’s grand funeral rites started on December 1, this year, and are supposed to continue till Friday, December, 15.
