Asare Bediako Runs for NPP Chairman
MR. ASARE Bediako has finally confirmed long-standing rumours that he would be contesting the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when the party goes to the polls next year.
Spilling the bean, Bediako, who has over the years been described as the father of NPP in the Ashanti Region, expressed confidence that he would win the race to lead the party to the Promised Land.
According to him, he has the experience, knowledge and the needed resources to defeat every competitor and also make the party more attractive than it currently is.
Jubilation In K’si
Interestingly, there was wild jubilation among scores of party members in the region, notably Kumasi, immediately Bediako declared his intentions.
Party members are of the view that the ruling political party needs an experienced person and a unifier in order to retain political power in 2020.
Asare Bediako’s Promise
He disclosed that the regional arm of the party has been hit with divisions from all over, and attributed the sad development to lack of proper leadership in the region.
Bediako alleged that there is a sharp division among some regional executives of the party, and added that things must change if the party wants to conquer the entire region in the next general elections.
The Asokwa chairman said the current practice whereby the regional chairman is treated as a ‘superman’ and an untouchable in the party, is not the best, noting that he would ensure that true democracy worked under his leadership.
