Asawase Fire Causes Havoc …Many Left Homeless
A NUMBER of people in Asawase, in the Asokore Mampong Municipality, have become homeless after an inferno flattened some wooden structures.
The Tuesday dawn blaze consumed about nine structures and other items such as clothes, television sets, mattresses and beds to the chagrin of the victims.
The cause of the inferno was not immediately known but reports indicated that a thick smoke emanated from one of the rooms before eventually turning into a fire.
It was reported that a certain school was also not spared by the inferno, which was eventually doused after some fire fighters had rushed to the place.
When the paper visited the area on yesterday morning, some of the victims were seen openly shedding tears over their huge losses.

Other people were also seen showering praises on the fire fighters for rushing to the place quickly to prevent the fire from spreading to other structures in the area.
Meanwhile, the fire fighters said it was too early to pinpoint what really started the blaze. They said investigations have started to ascertain the cause of the fire.
