THERE IS uneasy calm in the Asawase Constituency, in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of Ashanti Region.
This follows the inability of Masawudu Mabuarick, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member to file his nomination forms.
Masawudu Mubarick tried everything humanly possible to file and contest in the NDC MP polls at Asawase but he failed.
The NDC Regional Office in Kumasi had remained closed on Thursday and Friday and so he could not file his nomination forms.
Muntaka Goes Solo
This therefore means that the incumbent NDC Member of Parliament for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, would not face any competition.
Mohammed Muntaka successfully filed his nomination forms on Friday at the NDC office at Asawase, accompanied by his large crowd of supporters.
The incumbent Asawase MP urged any aggrieved NDC member to follow party structures, apparently referring to Mubarick.
Skirt and Blouse Threats
Meanwhile, supporters of Masawudu Mubarick, who are mainly NDC delegates, have threatened to vote against the NDC.
According to them, they may vote against Mohammed Muntaka as a way of protesting against how the party badly treated Mubarick.
The aggrieved NDC members on Friday invaded the NDC Ashanti Regional office, where they burnt party paraphernalia.
The police rushed to the place on time and that helped to prevent the NDC members from causing nasty scenes there.
