Traffic flow in Bantama Constituency, in Kumasi, was impeded on Saturday when Francis Asenso-Boakye, a Deputy Chief of Staff, stormed the area.
Asenso-Boakye, who has made his intentions clear of contesting in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary polls, was in the area to submit his nomination forms.
Unsurprisingly, scores of residents of Bantama, one of the boisterous communities in Kumasi, trooped out in large numbers to render support to their political idol.
The major highway in the constituency, Abrepo Junction to the Gee Roundabout road, was totally blocked by a sea of people, who followed Asenso-Boakye and his team.
Significantly, most of the people that followed Asenso-Boakye to submit his nomination forms are NPP delegates, who have voting rights in the upcoming party polls.
Openly, these NPP delegates did not hide their support for Asenso-Boakye, with most of them promising to cast their ballot for him to become the NPP MP candidate for the area.
Asenso-Boakye, who seemed excited about the high level of support that he received, said he is a native of Bantama and he is coming to lead the constituency into affluence.
He said he was born and bred in Bantama and so he is aware of the challenges facing the constituency “and I will provide perfect leadership for us to overcome our challenges”.
Asenso-Boakye, who is a Political Assistant to the President, urged the delegates to continue to support him so that he would win the impending elections.
According to him, he has what it takes to increase the NPP votes in the Bantama Constituency “and when I become MP, I will champion for the transformation of Bantama”.
