Former Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Joseph Yamin was beaten by 88 votes by incumbent Augustus Andrews Nana Kwasi in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Region elections held on Saturday.
The elections, which took place at the Tweneboah Koduah Senior High School in Sekyere Kumawu, were disrupted by a vigilante group by name The Hawks.
After eight hours of going through a tensed electoral process, Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi was announced as the newly Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman after securing a total votes of 699 out of the votes cast.
His closely contender the Former Ashanti Regional Minister under President Mahama Administration, Hon Joseph Yamin also secures 611 of the votes cast.
The election which was preceded with speeches from some National Party Gurus including Hon Betty Mould Iddrisu, Hon Mubarak Muntakah and other Representatives.
Swearing in the newly elected executives, the General Secretary of the Party, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah reminded them about the agenda of the party in winning elections and urged them to be one to achieve the aim.
In his speech the newly Regional Chairman, Augustus Andrew Nana Akwasi said the party cannot win elections in 2020 if they will still maintain the fractions within the party
