Ashanti Police Commander Fights Land Guards

THE NEWLY appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwesi Mensah Duku, has vowed to deal ruthlessly with land guards and all other illegal activities that poses security threats in the region.

He said the police would beef up security across all areas in the region and also work closely with chiefs to deal with land guards.

DCOP Duku said acts of lawlessness would be a thing of the past, stressing that the police would remain on top of the security situation in the region at all times, during his tenure.

“Land guard activities and rival gang attacks would be fought fiercely”, he stated with a grim face during press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday.

He said “It is my vision to make Ashanti region peaceful, secure and conducive for socio-economic development without fear of crime and intimidation of any person”.

DCOP Duku appealed to the media to work closely with the police in the region so that criminal activities would be reduced to the barest minimum.

He said “Our mandate as police service cannot be accomplished without the support of a vibrant media. The media should begin to act as a key partner of the police in the fight against crime”.
