Asiedu Nketiah Given Kingly Ride by Supporters
IT WAS a spectacle to behold when the General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, was carried shoulder high by members of his party.
The ‘light-weight’ politician was attending the Ashanti Regional NDC elections, held at Kumawu in the Ashanti region on Saturday morning, when the incident happened.
Affectionately called ‘General Mosquito’, the NDC scribe was met with wild shouts by elated-looking party members when he appeared at the venue. The elated supporters then carried him shoulder high as thy chanted his name.
The NDC General Secretary, from his body language, seemed to have enjoyed the kingly ride as he was even seen smiling and waving at the crowd.
They carried him from the car park to the auditorium where the election was to be held before they put him down.
Political observers, however, say the extent of his popularity can only be determined by the outcome of the upcoming national delegates’ congress as he faces his deputy, Koku Anyidoho, in fierce political contest next month.
