Asokwa MCE Fights Floods
THE NEWLY endorsed Chief Executive of Asokwa Municipality, Hon. Akwanuasah Gyimah, has promised to implement pragmatic programmes and policies to help stop the perennial flooding and its associate problems in the newly-created municipality.
Delivering his maiden address after all 16 assemblymen in the assembly had given him a hundred percent endorsement on Monday, he stated that he was not happy with how flooding had continually troubled residents in Asokwa “So I will work to address this menace”.
According to him, it was high time floods were made a thing of the past in the municipality, and called for the support of all residents towards the realization of that vision.
The total endorsement of Hon. Akwanuasah by the assemblymen took place on Monday during a colourful ceremony, which was attended by several political bigwigs in the Ashanti Region, including the Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah.
The Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Asokwa Constituency, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, Mr. Edmund Kyei, aka ‘Edmundo’, the Asokwa Constituency first vice Chairman of the Mew Patriotic Party (NPP) and other party top guns were also there.
Hon. Akwanuasah lauded President Nana Akufo-Addo for honouring him with the top position, stressing that he would also work to tackle youth unemployment and bad roads in the municipality.
The Regional Minister, in his address, implored the newly endorsed MCE to be transparent in his dealings and also unite the assemblymen so that together, they could work to transform the Municipality.
