NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei, has denied begging Eric Osei, an Independent Candidate, to bow out of the Asokwa parliamentary race.
Nicknamed as ‘Mama Pat, the lawmaker also vehemently debunked reports that she once knelt before Eric Osei, a former NPP Organizer at Asokwa Constituency, to change his mind and quit the race to boost her chances.
“I have never begged him to step aside so that I can win the Asokwa Constituency election on the ticket of the NPP. Such statements are palpable false so nobody should believe them”, Mama Pat said on Akoma FM in Kumasi.
According to her, she is the suitable person to continue to occupy the Asokwa MP seat, stressing that no amount of propaganda and lies from a ‘greedy’ politician could thwart her efforts and chances of retaining the enviable seat.
“I have not not negotiated with Eric Osei to step aside for me. He is just greedy and fighting for his personal interest without caring or thinking about the interest of the NPP”, the Asokwa Lawmaker, who is seeking re-election, noted.
Mama Pat, who is aiming to occupy the Asokwa MP seat on a three-consecutive term, stated that her positive works, which has helped to expedite the transformation of Asokwa over the years, would help her to win the polls.
Eric Osei, the Asokwa Constituency Independent Candidate, in his response, flatly denied being greedy, explaining that he resigned from the NPP to contest as independent candidate to help transform Asokwa.
“The people of Asokwa have realized that our sitting MP, Mama Pat, has failed them woefully so the people approached me to unseat her and restore hope and growth for Asokwa Constituency. I will win the polls”, he declared.
