Assin Adadientem Chief Denied Consulting Gods Over Defiled 4year Girl Case

Nii Lantei Tuaka II, Chief of Assin Adadientem, in the Assin South District has denied media allegations of him consulting the gods in the case of the four-year old defiled girl.

According to him it was a mistaken identity and was wrong to associate him and his town to the alleged incident.

Nii Tuaka revealed that the actual name of the community where the incident happened was “Camp 2″ and not Assin Adadientem as being peddled by the media and the general public.

He again, denied the voice in the media alluded to him and described it as fake, malicious and of bad faith intended to ridicule him and his law-abiding people.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Chief stated emphatically that: “No media personnel has spoken to me, yet my image and community name and reputation is being maligned and impugned upon for consulting the gods. I can tell you on authority that the so-called voice is fake, because I have not granted interview to any journalist to that effect.

“As a Chief, I am totally against settlement of issues of defilement, rape and abuses, particularly issues of child welfare by parents, religious leaders and chiefs in the palace. I will never do such a thing,” he added.

The Chief and Elders who were obviously unhappy with the rundown of his “unblemished reputation” cautioned the media and the general public to desist from associating the community’s name with the alleged dastardly act.

Later in an interview with GNA at Assin Andoe on Monday, Mr Cosmos Appiah, step Father of the suspect, who’s real Father was buried last Saturday refuted the age being given to the suspect and stated categorically that the boy was rather 15 years and his elder brother, 17.

Mr Appiah expressed the family’s support and collaboration with the law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice prevailed and appealed to the media to stop trying the case in the media but leave it to the police and the justice system to take its course thereby ensuring that true justice was not denied.

Mr John Seth Dzirasah, Headteacher of Assin Adadientem D/A Junior High School (JHS), described the suspect as one of the most intelligent, obedient and respectful student in the school and therefore, expressed shock upon hearing the news, adding that he was part of the school’s athletic team.

“As teachers, we are worried and the students are sad that one of them is behind bars for allegedly defiling a four-year old girl. We just can’t believe one of our respectful students could do that.”
