Nii Nai Gyani, a Ghanaian Businessman based in Holland has donated assorted Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM) to the Assin Adubiase Methodist School in the Assin South District of the Central Region to enhance academic performance.
The items, worth over GH¢10,000 include; furniture, maker boards, tables, cabinets, computers and supplementary reading and writing books.
Presenting the items, Mr Gyani said the gesture was in line with his desire to contribute to the improvement of academic excellence in the school which had moulded him.
He said he would encourage students to develop a healthy appetite for reading to improve on their writing and comprehension skills.
He advised the school authorities to put the items to good use and ensure that students attained high level of education in a congenial teaching and learning environment.
Mr Gyani indicated that in his next project, laptops would be provided to the school to help promote Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the area.
He was optimistic that the items would improve academic performance of students and motivate other old students to support their alma mater.
Receiving the items, Mrs Esther Taye, the Head teacher of the school, expressed gratitude to Mr Gyani for his kind gesture and called on other philanthropists and old students to emulate him.
She commended all old students, PTA and other stakeholders for their efforts at promoting the welfare of the school and stressed the need for an effective communication between old students and school authorities.
Mrs Taye mentioned some challenges the school including lack of a well-furnished ICT centre, supplementary reading books, projectors and other teaching and learning materials.
Others were lack of fence wall around the school, dilapidated school building and accommodation for teaching staff.
