Founder and leader of Glorious Wave Church International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, was over the weekend the centre of trolls by Ghanaian social media users.
This was after he prophesied that Brazil will win Copa America 2021 tournament, and also England will win the Euro 2020 which all woefully failed to manifest.
On Saturday, hours to the Copa America final match kick off between Brazil and Argentina, the man of God said God revealed to him that Brazil will win.
In a video he recorded and shared on Instagram, he said although Argentina had Lionel Messi in its team, God had ordained Brazil to win the trophy.
“Most people don’t know this and they question, how a prophet is able to talk about football, health matters, energy, future matters but let me tell you that…God rules in men’s matters. There is nothing that you can say that God is not interested in,” he indicated.
“Now for the match which will happen tonight between Brazil and Argentina, Brazil will win. Argentina will not win, Messi is part of Argentina, he is a great footballer but the night is not for them, the night is for Brazil and Brazil will win this cup. That is what the spirit of the Lord has revealed to me,” he added.
But after the final whistle, Argentina came out victorious. The team beat Brazil 1-0 to win the trophy, contrary to what God allegedly revealed to the prophet.
His prophecy also about England failed as Italy won the trophy on penalty decision.
After the failure of the two prophecies, a lot of social media users as a result took to their platforms to mock the man of God.
Badu Kobi trended heavily on Twitter. Majority of Twitter users made fun of him and how his church members will be feeling about their leader.
These failures have left a number of other sports stars quite apprehensive as any ‘prophecies’ of success for any team or athletes by Badu Kobi seem to end in pain instead.
One of Ghana’s representatives at the Tokyo Olympics, Joseph Paul Amoah, desperate to avoid the fate that befell Badu Kobi’s other ‘victims’ took to Twitter to issue a desperate plea.
“Badu Kobi please do not make any prophecy about the Ghana Olympic team. I beg you!” Joseph Amoah tweeted.
Joe Paul Amoah is one of 14 athletes who will represent Ghana at the Tokyo Olympics and will compete in the 200m and the 4x100m.
He has opted out of the 100m despite qualifying for the event, in order to focus on the longer sprint, which is his specialty, and the sprint relay.
