Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan dies

Rich Homie Quan (RHQ), the platinum-selling rapper from Atlanta, has died. He passed away on Thursday at his Atlanta home.

TMZ reports that his family and a representative from the Fulton County morgue have confirmed his death.

Rich Homie Quan was 34 years old. His family told TMZ Hip Hop that they are shattered and heartbroken by his sudden passing.

TMZ also obtained a 911 call related to RHQ’s death. In the call, his girlfriend informed the dispatcher that the rapper was not breathing and had no heartbeat. She described finding him unresponsive on a couch in their home and noted that he started foaming at the mouth when she attempted to move him.

The cause of death has not been reported. Born Dequantes Lamar in Atlanta, RHQ first gained attention in 2013 with his hit “Type of Way” and continued to impress with fan favorites like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Ride Out.”

He later collaborated with Young Thug on the Cash Money Records project “Rich Gang” and frequently worked with fellow Atlanta artists 2 Chainz and Jacquees.

He was nominated for multiple BET and BET Hip Hop Awards, such as best new artist and the people’s champ award.

He also collaborated with several big names in the industry, including 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Gucci Mane and Trinidad James.

2 Chainz posted a tribute on Instagram, saying: “Dam lil brother, we just spoke about shooting a video, special prayer for you and your family, and pray for any and everybody that’s dealing with something my condolences bru”.

Rapper Quavo also posted on Instagram, writing above an image of himself, Rich Homie Quan, and several other artists: “May God be with us, never saw this being a part of our journey”.

Engineer Alex Tumay, who worked Rich Homie Quan over the years, said the artist was “one of the nicest people I ever worked with and a true artist. Absolutely crushing news. RIP”.
