Upon no last minute changes, and going through vetting successfully, with swearing into office as well – Dr Ato Cassiel Forson, John Jinapor and Dominic Ayini are expected to occupy sensitive and key roles in the John Dramani Mahama administration.
The key positions are, Finance Ministry, Energy Ministry and Attorney General and Justice respectively.
This was made known in a statement issued by the presidency on January 9.
According to the statement, President Mahama has submitted the ministerial nominations to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
In another development, Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has referred three ministerial nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report.
“I have received on your behalf a message from the office of the President, dated January 9, 2025. Hon. members I will accordingly refer the nominees to the Appointments Committee for consideration and report to the house, it’s so referred.”
The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh in response urged the nominees to prepare adequately to appear before the Appointments Committee for vetting.
“We want to caution your nominees to come prepared. It is not going to be business as usual so they should come prepared. I hope you will be prepared if you appear before the appointment committee.”
