Jimmy Cobblah, head coach of the national Under-20 male football team, the Black Satellites, has said, the goal conceded by his team, would be a major threat to their qualification to the Africa Youth Championship in Algeria, next year.
The Black Satellites, secured a 3-1 victory over the Young Squirrels of Benin in the first leg qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.
According to Cobblah, though the Satellites won 3:1, the final qualifier for the AYC in Benin would be a big task, due to the goal scored by the Young Squirrels in the first leg.
“We are going to have a really tough game on our hands in Benin, but we are equal to the task. We didn’t want them to get any goal here, but such is football, now we have to devise plans to control them in the return leg and we have to prepare for that” – he said.
Coach Cobblah in an interview with GNA Sports, said they would have to play a compact midfield in the return leg after studying their opponents carefully.
“We are going to attack them in the return leg but with a very compact and solid midfield. They are very good and I anticipate a better performance from them in the second leg, but we have an aim to qualify ahead of them and we must do that,” he added.
The Black Satellites came from a goal down to finish the first leg of the final qualifier of the AYC 2019 with two goals from Richard Danso and another from Satellites captain Ishaku Konda in the 59th minute, 72nd and 82nd minutes respectively in the second half as Benin attacker Allagbani Saliou gave the visitors an early goal in the 28th minute.
