South Africa’s Chrestinah Thembi Kgatlana has been awarded the Best Player of the Tournament at the 2018 Total Africa Cup of Nations.
Relentless goalscorer Kgatlana has been given the accolade following her splendid performance at the tournament hosted by Ghana.
She also claimed the Top Scorer award after netting five goals at the end of the tournament.
However, her goalscoring prowess did not come to her aid against Nigeria in the final game on Saturday as she missed a couple of chances to be on the scoresheet for the Bayana Bayana, thus, the game ended in a goalless draw after 90 minutes.
However, the Super Falcons of Nigeria beat South Africa 4-3 on penalty shootouts to defend their Africa Women’s Cup of Nations title at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Thembi Kgatlana plays for Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States of America.
