Mexico’s Miguel Berchelt (33-1, 29 KOs) reigned supreme over Ghana’s Maxwell Awuku (44-4-1, 30 KOs) on Saturday night in Cancun, Mexico in the World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Featherweight title fight.
Berchelt, retained his title by stopping Awuku in round three.
The two boxers in the first two rounds stood toe-to-toe and traded punches, but the champion landed most of the clean shots.
In round three, Berchelt dropped Awuku with a straight right, the Ghanaian beat the count.
The Mexico pushed forward and sent the Ghanaian to the canvas for the second time, Awuku beat the count again, however, Berchelt continued with the onslaught and that forced the referee to stop the bout.
The fight was Berchelt second defense of his WBC strap.
