Ayawaso Contest: Dumelo Picks Forms
Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has joined four other persons who have picked forms to contest the parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enable them contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat on the ticket of the party.
According to the party, five persons including the Ghanaian actor and the 2016 parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Delali Kwasi Brempong, have picked up nomination forms to contest in the by-election.
“Currently, four people have picked nomination forms. Our former DCE who contested in 2016, Delali Kwasi Brempong, and we have John Acquah and John Dumelo. I am told one gentleman called Ewenam has also picked a form,” Chairman of the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey, confirmed in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM on Wednesday, 19 December 2018.
The cost of nominations forms and filing fees is GH¢1,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively, with a 50 per cent discount on the filing fees for women and persons with disability.
December 21, 2018, has been set as the deadline for filing of nomination forms and the vetting is scheduled for Saturday, December 22, 2018.
The NDC aspirants are expected to file their nomination by Friday, 21 December 2018. According to the party, the interested persons will be vetted on Saturday, 22 December 2018. The NDC primary is expected to come off on Friday, 28 December 2018.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat was occupied by NPP’s Emmanuel Agyarko who died on November 21, after a short illness.
