The Progressive People’s Party’s parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, Mr William Dowokpor, has assured the electorate that he will pay attention to the needs of the constituency when elected as Member of Parliament (MP) .
In a statement, Mr Dowokpor said: “I am going to parliament to provide a strong voice for those who live and work in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, comprising: Dzorwulu, North Dzorwulu, Abelenkpe, Airport Residential and Roman Ridge; East Legon, West Legon, University of Ghana (Legon), GIMPA, Shiashie, Okponglo, Mempeasem, American House and surrounding areas.”
“I come as the reformist MP, who will involve you in the decisions and contributions I will make on your behalf in parliament. We need to get it right with this by-election, or the next years will continue to be frustrating for all of us.”
According to him, as a legislator, he will focus on the three key constitutional reforms that would make government work in the interest of the people of Ghana and bring better development to the area.
“At the constituency level, I will work with the relevant institutions to deliver reliable utility and public services (the roads); provide job opportunities for the youth through enterprise and employable skills development and training; ensure the security of life and property, and involve residents in constituency governance – (proper representation).
“At the national level, I will make the difference. I will be the strong voice for the passage of the RTI Bill in parliament; key advocate for the election of MMDCEs; promoter of the separation of the executive from the legislature – no minister in parliament; a strong advocate for the establishment of the Office of the Independent Prosecutor to win the fight against corruption.” – the statement further added.
