Ghanaian defender Abdul Rahman Baba has secured a spot in the Greek Super League Team of the 2023-24 season, following his exceptional performances for Pan-Thessalonian Athletic Club of Constantinopolitans (PAOK) FC.
The 30-year-old left-back played a crucial role in PAOK’s success, helping the team clinch its first Greek championship title since the 2018-19 season.
Baba stood out as one of the league’s best players, making significant contributions on both offense and defense.
He featured in 28 league matches, scoring five goals and delivering three assists, consistently influencing games at key moments. In PAOK’s UEFA Europa Conference League campaign, he appeared in nine matches, scored once, and provided an assist, guiding the team to the quarter-finals.
His stellar form continues into the 2024-25 season, with seven goals in 22 appearances across all competitions, further solidifying his value to PAOK’s ambitions.
Beyond club success, Baba remains committed to the Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars. He clarified that injuries had kept him out of recent call-ups but stressed his focus on full recovery and fitness. Expressing his desire to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Baba reaffirmed his dedication to Ghana’s football legacy.
The Black Stars face challenges after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking their first absence in 20 years and the 19th in their history. Baba’s determination to return to the squad highlights his commitment to contributing to Ghana’s football success on the international stage.
