Media and Entertainment entrepreneur, Abdullai Abu Sadiq popularly known as Baba Sadiq, has officially been elected the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2024 parliamentary candidate for the Okaikwei Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
The seat is currently been occupied by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Patrick Yaw Boamah.
Baba Sadiq on Saturday won the NDC parliamentary primaries for the Constituency with an impression margin, polling a handsome 682 to floor his three other contenders who have since conceded defeat.
The three defeated contenders; Nadine Issah, Fred Nii Tetteh and Judge Hashford Quartey polled 267, 118 and 94 votes respectively.
Baba Sadiq has since started his message of internal-unity, party cohesion and an all inclusive campaign in the larger interest of the party to enable it win the seat in 2024.
Baba has also expressed a heartfelt gratitude to his party’s delegates, campaign team and all stakeholders who contributed to make his victory reality.
It took many by surprise when Baba Sadiq confirmed his decision to contest for the seat.
Though he has publicly associated himself with the NDC as a dues paying member and was part of the drafters of the tourism, arts and culture component of the NDC manifesto, Baba Sadiq was hitherto seen more of a creative arts personality than a hardcore politician.
During his campaign for the seat, Baba had told Starr FM that aside championing the cause of his constituents and representing them to the best of his ability, one of his priorities would be to make the Okaikwei Central Constituency seat, a safe one for the NDC.
“Baba Sadiq is a personality that resonates with the four voting blocks of the constituency, particularly the young voters. also owing to the fact that the know me for excellences, they can bank on my professional reputation, intelligence and thought leadership and a more amiable and charismatic individual that goes the extra mile to creating value for society and his constituents”, Baba told Starr News at the sidelines of the launch of his campaign following the successful filing of his nomination.
He continued: “in three election cycles we have not won here. But if you look at the voter pattern particularly related to the presidency, you will see that this is a winnable seat. Myself, the party and the relevant stakeholder will continually work to ensure that we make the one of the safest seats of the NDC in the Greater Accra region, 2024 and beyond.”
