Radio Personality, Mavis Nana Ama Nhyira, popularly known as Silva Lady of Oman 107.1 FM, has described astereotypical comment made by the Head Pastor of Glorious Wave International Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, as unfortunate.
It would be recalled that, the Prophet, in one of his recent sermons, which has one viral on social media, talked about what he termed the true nature of women of Asante, Fante and Ewe descents, when it comes to marriage.
According to him, any man that marries an Asante lady would be inviting problems for himself because ‘Asante women are greedy and troublesome’. He also described Fante women as foolish and Ewe women as ‘doormats.’
However, speaking in an interview with Kwame Gyan on Y)nkopa 89.1fm, and monitored by The New Publisher, the Drive Time Host chided Prophet Kobi, saying he is not in the best position to tell who anyone should get married to.
”Prophet Badu Kobi has exhibited bad skills as a leader and I am very much disappointed in him. He must be condemned for his tribally-centered comment. How can a man of his kind say these things? It is very sad and disheartening. At a time when we are fighting against tribal injustice and many other unfortunate treatments against women, I think some of these comments shouldn’t be tolerated.” she said.
She described the prophet’s comment as “an indictment on his wife and an offence to womanhood”, adding that ‘“We don’t have to accept the kind of things that he said. A woman gets married because of love not necessarily because of property, and I think we women should condemn it in totality”.
According to her, other Men of God wouldn’t make such statements and called onKobi to apologize or face the wrath of Ashantis in particularly, and women in Ghana.
The religious leader’s statement generated a lot of conversation on both social and traditional media, with many people asking that he apologizes, but Prophet Kobi, in another sermon, virtually doubled down on his stance, calling his critics UNWISE. He said he would stand by his words because he thinks ‘they are the bitter truths’.
