Bagbin’s comments very ‘Childish’ – Afia Schwarzenegger

Media personality and social media commentator, Afia Schwarzenegger has lambasted the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) Presidential Aspirant, Alban Bagbin for his unsavoury comment he made on Dr Henry Seidu Danaa.

Afia Schwarzenegger expressed disappointment in comments made by Alban Bagbin with regards to the nomination of Dr Henry Siedu Daanaa and Mr Omane Boamah, as Minister for Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, and Communications, respectively.

Dr Henry Siedu Daanaa, who is the former Minister for Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs of Ghana, was the first visually impaired person to be approved as a Minister of State in Ghana.

Mr Alban Bagbin has slammed as bad, former President John Mahama’s appointment of Dr Omane Boamah as Communications Minister and a “blind person” as Minister of Chieftaincy Affairs.

According to him, Dr Omane Boamah, who stammers; “wasted time” communicating with Ghanaians due to his disability.

He added further that the choice of Dr Seidu Danaa, who is visually impaired; as Chieftaincy Minister was also wrong because the Ghanaian culture does not allow one who is not “whole” to be made a chief.

The host of the Political Police show could not fathom why a prominent person of his calibre would make such a statement.

In a video circulating on social media , Afia Schwarzenegger said Bagbin had no right to attack Dr . Danaa.

According to Afia Schwarzenegger Bagbin impregnated the younger sister of his wife and has no moral right to demean Dr. Danaa.

She added that it was wrong to have made demeaning statements on stammerers and blind people.

” You know some behaviours of our members of Parliament is absurd. I think now if some people want to go and contest for the parliamentary seat, they need to check their brains to see if everything is okay. Because for someone who has been in parliament all these years, someone who has travelled across Nations, Alban Bagbin to make such statement about Dr Danaa that he is visually impaired so he shouldn’t talk to certain people. Are you mad. You that slept with and impregnated your wife’s younger sister you even have the gust to talk in parliament. NDC would have held the neck of NPP had it been that this statement was from Kenned Agyapong…..” She said in the video.

Hon. Alban Bagbin is currently under pressure from Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations to apologize over comments made on stammerers and blind people.
