The Supreme Court has officially taken interest in a case in which the Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, is reported to have instructed his personal bodyguard to physically assault and manhandle a court bailiff on official duty for the Republic of Ghana.
The Court has accordingly directed its Registrar, Matthew Antiaye, to submit a detailed report on an alleged assault and manhandling.
The report, when filed, would be forwarded to the office of the Chief Justice for investigations and directions.
The bailiff, Joshua Baming, on Tuesday February 8, made this known throough a sworn affidavit to the 7-member Court, composed of Justices Jones Dotse, as President, Nene Amegatcher, Gertrude Torkonor, Yoni Kulendi, Agnes Dordzi, Mariama Owusu, and Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu.
He said while on official duty to serve a writ of summons filed at the Supreme Court on Mr Quayson at his office at Parliament House, the MP declined to accept the writ and initially asked his Personal Assistant to sack him.
The bailiff stated further that when the attempt by the Personal Assistant to sack him from the office was resisted, the MP then ordered his bodyguard to throw him out, manhandling him in the process.
The bailiff said when he arrived at the office of the Assin North MP, he dutifully introduced himself and explained the reason for which he was there.

President of the Court, Jones Dotse, yesterday, directed the Court Registrar, Mr Matthew Antiaye, to submit a detailed report on the matter to the court.
The detailed report to be filed by the Registrar would be sent to the office of the Chief Justice for investigation.
The report will in turn be forwarded to the Chief Justice for an investigation into the alleged assault and manhandling of an officer of the Court.
The MP in question, James Quayson is facing an application for an injunction to stop him from holding himself as the Assin North Member of Parliament.
