Bantana MP Denies Slapping Delegate

Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Daniel Okyem Aboagye, has denied slapping his constituency delegate of his party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Daniel Okyem Aboagye, he only acted in self-defense, when a known NPP member at Bantama, Kyei Julius, attempted to assault him, saying “but I never slapped him”.

Okyem Aboagye indicated that Kyei Julius clearly raised his hands to slap him (MP) but he acted swiftly by parrying Kyei Julius’ hand away “which is not a slap”.

Reports making rounds in the media indicated that Daniel Okyem Aboagye aka ‘Wofa Atta’ has slapped an NPP delegate at Bantama, Kyei Julius, in public.

According to reports, Kyei Julius has since reported the matter to the police, who are investigating the possible assault case and decide what to do next.

But in sharp rebuttal, Okyem Aboagye has stated that there is no iota is truth in reports that he has slapped someone in public, urging the public to reject the reports.

He said, contrary to the wild allegations, Kyei Julius rather tried to slap him (Okyem Aboagye) and he acted swiftly by parrying his hands away “I didn’t slap him”.

The Bantama MP said he saw some Bantana residents including Kyei Julius and “I initially wanted to move on to avert any trouble because Kyei Julius hates me so much.

“But on a second thought, I changed my mind and decided to shake hands with them since moving on without talking to them may portray me as disrespectful person.

“And whilst exchanging pleasantries with them, I told them that I nearly moved on without greeting them initially because I didn’t want to have anything doing with Kyei Julius”.

Okyem Aboagye said on ASH FM that he also told the people that for about six months running, Kyei Julius has been insulting him without justification.

He said before he could even conclude his statement, Kyei Julius, who suddenly became angry, attempted to slap him “but I parried his hands away in self defense”.

Okyem Aboagye also alleged that his political opponents are fabricating all of sort of wild lies in the media to discredit him but their ‘evil’ works would not succeed.

The Bantama NPP parliamentary elections is a two horse race between the incumbent, Daniel Okyem Aboagye and Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye.
