An Accra Circuit Court on Thursday remanded into Police custody a 25-year-old barber for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl in his barbering shop at Ashaley Botwe.
Richard Addo, charged with defilement pleaded not guilty.
Addo is to reappear on March 13, before the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Judith Asante who held the brief of Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is a trader residing at Ashaley Botwe with the victim, who is a class five pupil and her granddaughter.
On February 21, this year, Prosecution said the complainant noticed some changes in the way the victim was walks.
Prosecution said when the complainant quizzed the victim, she told her that Addo had lured her into his barbering shop and on two occasions defiled her.
According to prosecution the accused after each act gave her GHC2.00 and warned her not tell anyone.
Prosecution said a report was made to the police and a medical report form was issued to the victim to seek medical attention.
Addo was later arrested.
