Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia yesterday, Tuesday May 30, sent an official delegation from his office to pick for him a New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 presidential candidates nomination forms.
Picking the nomination forms, filling and submitting same is a prerequisite for Dr. Bawumia to contest the party’s presidential primaries to elect a flag-bearer for the December 2024 polls
The delegation Dr. Bawumia sent to pick the forms was led by Mr. Fred Oware, a former National Vice Chairman of the party, with support from Sammi Awuku a former National Organiser of the NPP and Dr. George Ayisi-Boateng a National Council member of the NPP.

Dr. Bawumia officially received the nomination forms from his delegation after they had fully met the prescribed requirement of paying GHC50, 000 through a bankers draft to the NPP National Headquarters.
They presented them to the Vice President at his office and he would be expected to complete the process and return the forms to the Headquarters ahead of the November 4, contest.
In brief remarks Fred Oware who is the Chief of Staff at the Office of the Vice President said “we went through the process, we finished the assignment and we were given the forms. We looked at it and all the information we need is available in this document. On behalf of the delegation you sent, I wish to formally hand over the document to you.”
The Vice President who has been tipped as the favourite for the contest, couple of weeks ago embarked on stakeholder engagements to seek the mandate of elders and others stakeholders of the party before formally announcing his bid.
In a recent visit to the Volta Region where he interacted with functionaries of the NPP at Hohoe, he reiterated his intention to run for the presidency a move that has been endorsed by the Majority in Parliament, former and current appointees and the masses of the party’s grassroots.

Bawumia Must Win
In a recent interview, Sammi Awuku, has made know his preference and confidence in the candidature of Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s reported interest in being elected the party’s flag-bearer for the 2024 general elections.
Mr. Awuku who was a Deputy National Communications Director of the NPP, became the National Youth Leader of the NPP and then the National Organiser of the party said though a couple of competent persons in the NPP have officially declared their interest on the 202 flag-bearer bid, he is sticking his neck out for Dr. Bawumia and hoping that when nominations are opened, the Veep would declare his interest, contest and win.
Sammi Awuku spoke to ‘OB’, host of Ekosisen on Asempa Fm: “Dr. Bawumia looks into the future with courage and optimism. I’m fond of him and I think he will make a great President if the party opens nominations and he expresses interest in contesting for presidential candidate slot of the NPP”.
He continued “I asked him two critical questions and he told me his major focus is to create a future of opportunities for young people. He is very tolerant and that politics of inclusion is admirable. He also believes that with a coordinated effort, we can build a strong resilient country to make Ghana very formidable”.
Sammi Awuku said another factor that puts him closer to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is his sacrifice for the political party indicating that the Vice President used 8 months of his life to defend the party’s position in the Supreme Court; a feat which is worthy of praise.
“If Dr Mahamudu Bawumia should declare his intentions to contest for the flag-bearership, he should know that in the NPP we compete for everything. He should know that it will not be a walk in the park, he is going to be grilled and people can make an industry out of propaganda that will be used against him.
“He is contesting against very strong men but I think he is Primus Inter Pares. So if the NPP opens nominations and he declares his intentions to contest I think he can give it a good shot and when he is confirmed by the NPP and the people of Ghana, I believe he will make a very good President,” he said.
