Bawumia Shocks Mourners With ‘Adowa’ Dance
VICE PRESIDENT, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, became the toast of mourners that flooded the Jubilee Park in Kumasi over the weekend for burial of the Chief of Staff’s mother.
Dr. Bawumia, not known as a dancer, stole the show when he took center stage to display his admirable skills with the ‘Adowa’ dance, traditionally known as an Ashanti dance.
The vice President, wearing black and white attire, which was the prescribed colours for the solemn occasion, stunned the mourners with his exquisite dance.
The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, was on the dancing floor, doing justice to traditional ‘Adowa’ tunes, amid shouts from the mourners.
Dr. Bawumia, who was among the top dignitaries present at the funeral, then moved to the dancing floor to join the chief of staff.
The mourners, initially, thought Dr. Bawumia was just going to urge Akosua Frema Osei-Opare on to continue dancing to entertain the crowd.
But to their surprise, Dr. Bawumia, who has never been seen dancing ‘Adowa’ before, rather started dancing perfectly to the ‘Adowa’ tunes.
At that moment, all the sadness and sorrow that was associated with the funeral quickly vanished into thin air as the mourners were seen smiling.
Some of the mourners rushed to where the Veep was dancing and they were seen chanting his name and urging him to display his dancing skills.
