Celebrated Ghanaian musician, Rebecca Acheampong Sanni Daniel, mostly known as Becca, has graduated with a Masters in Brands and Communication from the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) and emerged as the Overall Best Student (One Year Programme) with a GPA of 3.92 at the First Session of the University’s 14th Congregation, held for the 2022 graduands on Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
“I stand here before you as a testimony and confirmation that if you can dare to dream you can surely have it”, Becca noted in her valedictory speech at the Congregation.
She expressed gratitude to her lectures, with special mention of the female lectures and her husband for the support to go through the academic course.
A teary Becca in her speech laced with sobs and sighs of joy noted: “I told myself that I was not going to cry but I am sorry I can’t help it. When I started this course, I told my Kailan [Ibn Kailan Abdul-Hamid] that I do not want to be an ordinary student and that I wanted to leave here with merit and so I am so honoured to be here today.
“I really hope someone out there can be inspired by me or by this and challenge for even higher or better”, Becca added.
She continued: “Being a mother now, a wife, a career professional, a singer, furthering my education seemed quite impossible but thanks to my ever-supporting husband, Dr. Sanni Daniel who was always there to remind me that it was very, very possible and that there is nothing you cannot do under the sun if you dare to try.
“I dedicate this to every woman, every single girl out there that you are smarter than you can ever, ever imagine. Do not underestimate the power of a determined woman, the mind of a determined woman”, Becca noted further.
Becca, at the tail end of her seven minutes speech, sounded elated and with her tears replaced with a beaming smile, congratulated her colleagues for standing their ground to graduate despite the challenges they may have faced.
