Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has warned former president John Dramani Mahama to desist from taking credit over the implementation of free secondary school policy.
He insists President Akufo-Addo envisioned and implemented the policy.
The debate between the NDC and NPP over who introduced the free SHS policy was sparked by John Mahama on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, during his three-day campaign tour of the Upper East Region.
Mr Mahama told the people of Tuobong, a community in the Tempane District of the region that the free SHS programme was started by his government in 2015.
Responding to the former president in a post on his social media handle sighted by thepublisheronline.com, Oppong Nkrumah wrote, “The millions of Ghanaians impacted by the free SHS program do not have short memories. They know it was envisioned and started by President Akufo-Addo. They will speak on December 7.”
“As far back as 2008, President Akufo-Addo sold free SHS as a game-changer. He has been consistently consistent. In him, we have a leader who sees beyond political convenience.”
