Benzema: I Was Taken Aback By Zidane Resignation

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema admits he was caught unawares upon Zinedine Zidane’s resignation.

Benzema, currently in Kuwait for a futsal tournament, says he was in transit as Zidane announced he was leaving Real on Thursday.

He said: “It’s something I did not know, I was on the plane.

“When I saw my phone, I did not understand things. It’s a rare thing. If he leaves he has a reason.”

Benzema counted on Zidane as his strongest ally inside the club.
