Berndt Luther Fetes 2000 Kids
THERE WAS, what can be described as, ‘mad rush’ for chicken and rice at Ash Town in Kumasi on Easter Monday, when the Berndt Luther Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) held its annual Easter Monday party for children.
The organizers of the event were expecting some one thousand (1,000) children to come and feast and also take home some surprise packages to mark the holiday but the figure skyrocketed to a little over two thousand (2,000).
Mr. Berndt Owusu, the Chief Executive of the company and his Secretary, Oscar Osei Acheampong, quickly made additions to feed the big number.
The attendants of the party were supplied with sumptuous rice, fried chicken, toffees, biscuits and soft drinks of various types.
Mr. Berndt Owusu said the Berndt Luther Foundation had been organizing the Easter Monday party for children at Ash Town and beyond for many years.
He, however, said he was surprised about the huge patronage that the programme enjoyed during this year’s Easter Monday.
Mr. Owusu stated that the high patronage clearly shows that the people love and appreciate the good works of his foundation.
He explained that he was bred at Ash Town and now that he is old, he has decided to give back to society, hence the kid’s party.
Mr. Owusu said several brilliant-but-needy students in the area have benefitted from a sponsorship package by his foundation.
