Betway staffs undergo annual compliance training

Staffs of Betway Ghana, the leading online sports betting company in Ghana have undergone training on combating the financing of terrorism and anti-money laundering.

Betway staffs from the Operations and Marketing Units of the betting giants were taken through topics such as the basic concepts of money laundering, terrorist financing and responsibilities of accountable institutions at the day-long training at their Corporate Office in Adabraka.

The training which was facilitated by personnel from the Financial Intelligence Centre was led by the Head of Compliance, Seth Nana Amoako.

The yearly programme brings new and old staff up to speed with the newest developments in the sector and is part of the brands commitment to ensuring that employees and stakeholders are compliant with rules and regulations that uplift the growing gaming industry.

Speaking to media on the sidelines of the training, Magnus Rex Danquah Jnr., the Country Manager – Operations at Betway said the workshops are organized to improve the knowledge and understanding of sports betting regulatory compliance amongst staff. He reiterated that Betway is committed to enforcing regulatory compliance in the industry.

“These workshops are meant to deepen our team’s knowledge and understanding of compliance with respect to Financial Intelligence. We will continue to work together with the Financial Intelligence Centre and the Gaming Commission of Ghana to enforce regulatory compliance and encourage responsible gaming”.

Betway since its inception in 2016 has been pushing for regulatory compliance with training for team members on compliance, stakeholder engagements on responsible gaming and compliance. To further enforce this, Betway has introduced player verifications through a specialized account management team tasked to verify player information (KYC).
