Bissiw Plays Politics With Robbery Upsurge
Former Deputy Minister of Agriculture for the Erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Hannah Bissiw, has decided to politicise the recent upsurge of armed robbery in the country by saying vehicles used for recent operations belongs to the present government.
Bissiw provided no evidence whatsoever for the alarming allegation.
Explaining this damning statement, Dr Bissiw said when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came into power in 2017, they had moved for a retrieval of all state assets in the custody of individuals, especially former government appointees.
These assets she said included vehicles which vigilante groups―Invisible and Delta forces forcibly took from individuals adding that those same vehicles were what the armed robbers are using for their operations.
She made these comments during a discussion on Radio Gold’s Power Drive, on Thursday amidst the rising armed robbery cases in the country.
“When this government came into power, every Landcruiser in Ghana belonged to government…and when the invisible forces in fact the state terrorist group (because the president says they are terrorist) were taking cars from people, it was being applauded and today those cars are being used for armed robbery. I cry for Ghana …,” Dr Bissiw said.
Failed Promises
Still justifying her stand, the former deputy minister said, the alleged NPP vigilante groups were part of the unscrupulous individuals rooming the streets of Ghana robbing citizens of valuables and to some extent, precious lives.
“Delta and invisible forces, they held a press conference and warned the government that you used us to win the elections, we helped you and we are still helping you, if you do not give us jobs, you will hear from us,” Dr Bissiw noted.
According to her, the vigilantes were paying the NPP back in their own coins for failure to provide them with jobs.
The vigilantes were not the only ones that the NPP failed, Dr Bissiw said adding that, the NPP failed the entire citizenry for failing to deliver on their promise of a peaceful and secured Ghana.
Quoting from the NPP’s manifesto, she said “the NPP government would secure peace and security for all Ghanaians and under the NPP government, Ghanaians would feel safe on the streets and in their homes. Ghanaians would go about their daily business in the secured knowledge that their properties and lives ae saved under an NPP government…”
“Is this the security they promised us?” she asked.
