A 63-YEAR OLD black-market operator at Kumasi, in the Ashanti region has been shot dead in public, in what appears to be a contracted job.
The deceased, Hasihim Salifu, was at his business joint at Mbrom, a suburb of Kumasi, on Sunday, April, 29, this year, when he was shot by three unidentified people on a motorbike.
After the sporadic shooting, the killers made away with an unspecified amount of money belonging to the deceased and bolted at top speed.
The matter has since been reported to the Ashanti Regional Police Command and serious investigations are underway to arrest the culprits.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) at the Ashanti Regional Office, ASP Juliana Obeng confirmed the sad report and urged the public to feed the police with the necessary information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
According to her, on that fateful day, Salifu was at his workplace when three men suddenly popped up at the scene on a motorbike and began firing series of gunshots at the then hapless Salifu.
The police PRO noted that the three men then took away an undisclosed amount of money from the black-market operator and fled from the scene.
According to her, the police is doing everything possible to arrest the suspects.
The body of the black-market operator had since been deposited at the morgue at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for autopsy.
