Ghanaian musicians Black Sherif and Camidoh have been nominated for the inaugural Trace Awards in multiple categories.
Black Sherif is up for Best Artist Africa – Anglophone, and Best Collaboration for his “Second Sermon” remix featuring Burna Boy. Camidoh is nominated for Song of the Year for his hit single “Sugarcane.”
DJ Juls is also nominated for Best Producer of the Year. Black Sherif is one of the most popular and successful musicians in Ghana. He has won several awards, including the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘Artiste of the Year’ in 2023.
Camidoh is also a rising star in Ghanaian music. His single “Sugarcane” was a top 10 hit in Ghana and across Africa in 2022. The organisers shared the list of nominees for the first-ever awards ceremony on Monday, August 21, 2023.
Olivier Laouchez, the chairman and co-founder of the awards ceremony, praised African artists as “extraordinarily creative and dynamic.”
He expressed his excitement for the upcoming event, which will take place on October 21, 2023, at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.
