Black Stars Camp in Ethiopia to Cut Down Cost – Liaison Team
The spokesperson for the CAF/FIFA liaison team Dan Kweku Yeboah says the Black Stars will be camping in Ethiopia and not Ghana ahead of their 2019 AFCON qualifier against Kenya to cut cost.
The team were expected to camp in Ghana and fly out to Nairobi for the game as they normally do anytime there is a qualifying match but will gather in Ethiopia for financial reasons.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Dan Kweku Yeboah explained why the Black Stars will not camp in Ghana.
“The Senior national team, Black stars will be camping in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa in order to cut cost, Flying players here (Ghana) and flying them out to Ethiopia before moving to Kenya will be extra cost so they will all meet in Ethiopia instead of coming to Ghana ” – he said.
According to him, the stars are expected to start camping on September 3rd and fly out to Nairobi on September .
Coach Kwesi has announced his squad for the game against Kenya with the omission of the Ayew brothers and captain Asamoah Gyan.
This seems not to have gone down well with a section of fans but Kwesi Appiah stated that he only invited players who are ready to die for the nation.
The Black Stars will take on Kenya in Nairobi on September 8, 2018.
